  5. LYRICS :: This is a man's world This is a man's world But it wouldn't be nothing Nothing without a woman or a girl, ooh You see, man made the car to take us over the road and Man made the train to carry the heavy load Man made electric light to take us out of the dark Man made the boat for the water Like, like Noah made the ark This is a man's, a man's world, ooh But it would mean nothing Nothing without, without a woman or a girl Without a woman or a girl Man thinks about the little bitty baby girls And the baby boys see Man makes then happy Cause man made them toys And after man make everything Everything he can You know that man makes money to buy from other man This is a man's, a man's world ooh But it wouldn't be nothing Not one little thing no Without a woman or a girl Without a woman or a girl Man needs a woman He's got to have a woman Man, he needs a woman He's got to have a woman Man makes everything he can But you see a woman makes a better man A woman makes a better man This is a man's, a man's world ooh But it would mean nothing Not one little thing no Without a woman or a girl, no Without a woman or a girl, no It would mean nothing This is a man's world

  8. If you're down an' out, an' you feel real hurt Come on over, to the place where I work An' all your loneliness, I'll try to soothe I'll play the blues for you Don't be afraid, come on in You might run across, yeah, some of your old friends All your loneliness, I've got to soothe I'll play the blues for you Come on in, sit right here, let's rap awhile Ya see I'm kinda lonely too, ya know? An' loneliness is a very bad thing If ya let it get the best of ya An' loneliness can get ya down, ya know? Yeah, yeah, are you comfortable now? Yeah, yeah, that's outta sight Yeah, as I was sayin' before Loneliness can get you down, an' I have heard of, ah Loneliness blowin' some good people's mind, ya know? But ya can't do that This is a big world, this is a big world An' there's too many nice things happenin' in this world You're a very pretty girl Where you live? No, no, no, disregard that, that's okay, that's okay Most important thing, I wanna know you I say, I wanna know you That's groovy, ain't it? I'll play the blues for you I ain't got no big name Oh Lord, an' I ain't no big star I'll play the blues for you on my guitar All your loneliness, I'll try to soothe I'll play the blues for you Excuse me

  14. First release by Annie Ross on audio album "Annie Ross Sings" in 1952 or 1954. Release with Lambert, Hendricks, & Ross on audio album "Lambert, Hendricks, & Ross!" in 1959. Twisted Lyrics written by Annie Ross. Music written by Wardell Gray. My analyst told me that I was right out of my head The way he described it he said I'd be better dead than live I didn't listen to his jive I knew all along that he was all wrong And I knew that he thought I was crazy But I'm not, oh no My analyst told me that I was right out of my head He said I need treatment but I'm not that easily led He said I was the type that was most inclined When out of his sight to be out of my mind And he thought I was nuts No more ifs or ands or buts They say as I child I appeared a little bit wild With all my crazy ideas, but I knew what was happening I knew I was a genius What's so strange When you know that you're a wizard at three I knew that this was meant to be Now I heard little children were supposed to sleep tight That's why I got into the vodka one night My parents got frantic didn't know what to do But I saw some crazy scenes before I came to Now do you think I was crazy I may have been only three, but I was swinging They all laughed at A. Graham Bell, they all laughed at Edison And also at Einstein, so why should I feel sorry If they just couldn't understand the idiomatic logic That went on in my head, I had a brain, it was insane Oh they used to laugh at me when I'd refuse to ride On all those double-decker buses All because there was no driver on the top What, no driver on the top? Man the chick is twisted, crazy, moogie-shoogie, idiot flip city! My analyst told me that I was right out of my head But I said dear doctor I think that it's you instead Because I've got a thing that's unique and new To prove that I'll have the last laugh on you 'Cause instead of one head I've got two And you know two heads are better than one
  15. This is Charlie Parker's Barbados. I don't own any of it (song or pictures). If you don't enjoy it, you're bad. This is such a cool song and bird was an outstanding player that influenced all bebop.
  16. My Favorite things by John Coltrane from the album "My Favorite Things".
  17. Theme from Exodus by Ernie Gold, played by Eddie Harris from his first solo record "Exodus to Jazz." According to Wikipedia, this is the first Jazz record ever certified gold! This record was recorded in 1962 at Bill Putnam's Universal Recording, in Chicago. (Bill later formed UREI from Universal Audio.) It never ceases to amaze me how good these records sound. When I was a young mastering engineer (at Eva-tone, another company formed in Evanston, Ill) my supervisor was Jerry DeClerk; Jerry was an engineer for these sessions and remembered working on this album... from Vee Jay LP-3016 Single and Album versions can be purchased here: http://www.amazon.com/Exodus-Jazz-Eddie-Harris/dp/B000058T9T Eddie Harris - TS Joseph Diorio - G William Yancy - B Willie Pickens - P Harold Jones - D
